Frederick's First Defeat of
the Seven Year's War

18th June 1757

Details of the Battle, map and OOB to follow soon
Swojschitz village This picture was taken to the west of the fish pond at the village of Swojschitz. It is from here that Frederick first observed the Austrian deployment on the 17 June.
View from Kaiserstrasse to Krzeczhorz

This view is taken from the road known as the Kaiser-Strasse and looks up towards the village of Krzeczhorz.

The distance from the Kaiser-Strasse to the village is about 1 mile and during the time of the battle the ploughed field had a crop of shoulder-high corn growing all over it. Croats hid in the corn and caused many Prussian casualties.

View to the north This picture was taken from the earthworks next to Krzeczhorz and looks north towards the Kaiser-Strasse.
This is a view of the church and churchyard at Krzeczhorz which were defended by the Austrians.
The Cavalry fought over this ground to the east of Krzeczhorz The Cavalry action on the Austrian right flank fought over this ground to the east of Krzeczhorz. The photo belies the severity of the slope.
Above: This view is taken from a road just to the east of Chozenitz, scene of heavy fighting. At the top right of the picture you can just make out the village of Krzechorz. Above: This is taken from the same position as that on the left, but facing west towards the heights where the Austrians originally deployed.
